  3. detail view

After you have clicked on a field to view it's value, have Forward and Reverse "VCR" buttons that allow you to scroll through the same field across records. For example a costomer database has a last name field. Click on that field in record one and then FF through last names for records 2,3,4, etc.

  4. Release a runtime version

Come up with a reduced price runtime version that will only allow the user to open and run forms (and import/export), but not design or edit forms. Sell this version for 99 cents to encourage development of specialized TapForms forms. Also have a free AppStore "carrier" app that a developer could use to package their custom form as a separate AppStore application.

  5. Create an ALARM option for a "Date" entry

Enable any "Date" entry (for instance, an Insurance Policy EXPIRATION date) to set an ALARM as a warning on or before that date.

  6. Add functionality to provide default value for a field

Provide checkbox for all fields to enable default values. When checked, show textfield for hardcoded value input.

Example: a field named Copies of Book in a book catalog has a checkbox "Has default value." When checked, textfield appears to user; user inputs the value 1.

Imports: May need an additional Yes/No for this option to 'populate when null?' for imports. Default set to Yes. When set to no, value remains null; when set to yes, value is populated with default value for all null values. If field is not null, honor value already present in import field.

  7. Add ability to do simple SQL queries across forms.

Create simple form with 3 text fields:
    1. Enter criteria to find, separated by sem-colon
    (this is the select)
    2. Enter forms(s) to search.
(the from. incorporate as spin wheel, list individual forms or ALL)

    Optional:
    3. Enter conditions separated by semi-colon
(the where clause -- not sure how you would implement this and keep it simple)

Result: display forms where matches are located, displaying on fields in each form that have this match.

  8. asterisk

What about pushing on the asterisks and viewing what's hidden under them in the same screen instead of moving to the other screen where you can accidentally make a change? Thank you

I actually did this in a very early version. But then I realized that I would have to have another one of those blue circle icons that would let you edit the row. So I changed it so you would see the value when you tapped and went into edit mode. I’ll reconsider this again.

  9. Allow a picklist to auto populate from existing values

It would be great if a picklist could have a list of all the values the field currently contains in all the existing record with an 'other...' at the top.

  10. EDIT FIELDS DIRECTLY ON HOME FORM SCREEN

BE ABLE TO OPEN A FORM AND CLICK ON A FIELD TO BEGIN EDITING RATHER THAN GO TO A FOLLOWUP SCREEN FOR EDITING. ALSO COULD YOU ADD A SMALL ICON FOR PICKLISTS ON THE FIELD LEVEL TO AVOID GOING TO THE SECOND SCREEN FOR THAT. JUST SOMETHING AT THE END OF THE LINE/FIELD.

  11. Auto increment number field, for invoice tracking

I want to keep track of invoice data using tap forms so when I'm on a Jobsite I could search job specifics, notes from that customer, would be nice to have a auto- incrementing field type so I could enter the invoice number I am on and each time I write up an invoice it would already have the right number when I entered it into tapforms.

  13. add sync to an open format file (API)

The idea is to just establish a sync between a Tapform Form and a simple file on the desktop and/or an external server that would be clearly documented, such as an XML or JSON file that as a minimum would only have to contain the entry type, the content and the last change date. This way, you would have a working API for power users wishing to sync their custom apps to Tapform and as a minimum people could just edit the Form data in Excel etc. and thereby enter data more easily than on the iphone.

  14. Forms repository

I'd hate to have to re-invent the wheel for common forms everyone needs.

An online repository of user-submitted forms, importable into the app, would make your app more marketable--even more useful right out of the box, so to say.

Which iPhone data are you referring to? Tap Forms can get access to Contacts and Photos. Well, and lots of other fields too, but those are the ones that come right from the iPhone Contacts app and the Photo library.

  17. Allow a form to be a database item in a form.

This would allow a group of forms to be contained in a database item of another form. For example, a truckers logbook might contain a record for a trip including trip specific data. Within that data there might be an item entitled segments, that would contain multiple entries in a form (mileage, start time, end time, gas purchased, ect). I think others have described this as subforms. It would be important to allow not just one subform per form item but lists of the subform.

  18. Improved search/filter

Would like to be able to select the filed on which to search rather than search all fields ina form. Better, be bale to search on more than one field with and/or logic:

last name = Smith AND first name = Tom
    state=CA OR state=NY

    Additional refinements could include
searching for field values using contains, greater than, less than, greater or equal, less or equal, not equal

  20. Add the ability to add sub forms

When you use the daily journal you it cannot be sorted well in it's current form. Sorted by date you still don't know which came first for multiple entries in one day. Sort by time... Hmmm what date is what, who knows. Sort by title, then it's just a mess. Sub list to add more structure would solve this problem. I'm sure you're familiar with the Storeit app. It has this functionality, but lacks flexibilty once you create a database. With this ability added to your app you will be hands down the best. Then we can talk about adding…
